Asher is 7 months old. It's exciting each day to watch him acquire new skills. He's able to crawl to reach things of his interest! And I suspect he's growing his 3rd tooth as he's a little whiny and cranky. Poor baby lost his appetite yesterday because of the discomfort the sprouting tooth is causing him. He's much more aware of things and people around him now. Definitely learning at a superb rate. Look forward to the day he calls me Mummy. :)
Am back to work! So far so good, workload is managable in school, except that I ve to bring home loads of marking over the weekends as it's the exam period. For the first time in my teaching career I actually worry about not finishing my marking before the tight deadline. Thankfully I did. And I will find time off to do grocery shopping at klp or parkway. Oh I must mention I love the super organised and not so crowded cold storage there. I'll steal some time to shop as well. My life has been a hectic one, since Asher is born. And it still is. Especially a mad rush for me on days where I ve to go home to do my chores first before picking Asher back from mum's place. Lately I've driving again. (I've stopped driving since I'm preg) and it does save me some cab fare from travelling around. The cab fares are so expensive nowadays that I'm contemplating buying a car as I am travel extensively around (Sg). Hmm but it's not cheap to get a car too. Oh well... I'll see how.
Ok time for lunch... and back to my crazy routine.

Confinement Myth or True?

I decided to compile a list of boos and dos during confinement which many older folks believe in.
Which are just traditions passed down over the years which are meaningless? Are there ones which hold true with consequences to mothers' health?

Dos
Confinement food must be cooked in sesame oil and must have ginger.
Pig kidneys, trotters, chicken in rice wine etc... are a must have.
Drink lots of DOM
Lie down all the time

Boos
Cannot bathe and wash hair.
No duck. No chicken feet. If not the mother will have shivering hands and feet.
During confinement drinking plain water is a No-no. Must drink red and black dates drink 24/7.
No cold drinks. All drinks must be piping hot.
No fans and air-con. Sweating is good as it purges out toxins.
No lifting heavy objects.
No standing for too long.

Pamper myself

After weeks of late nites, I woke up feeling dehydrated and lethargic. Being anxious I will look and feel crummy on my Big day next week, I feel an urge to visit a SPA to revitalise myself. So I visited this SPA at chinatown and took up the Sense of Love treatment.
http://www.afondspa.com/massage%20promotions.htm

Woo it was good! I love the hot stones therapy. Followed by massage and facial. I added some money to do the diamond dermabrasion peel which according to the auntie at the counter will make my face glow and look radiant. I must confessed when the treatment started, I was quite worried about the facial having side effects on my face. And quite intimidated by the machines they using for my eyes and face. Thank God the after effects were good! :)

Of cos this splurge burnt a hole in my pocket! I took up a package with them eventually spending close to half a K. This means I can visit the spa 5 more times! Woo... anybody keen to join me for my next round of pampering and treatment?

Wedding Gown

Oh Gosh I didnt realise that choosing gowns can be such a pain. It is only about 2 mths away from my BIG day and I haven found the gown that I like. I mean you know, a gown which makes my heart skip a beat, the gown that gives me the impulse to get married straight away, the gown that blow my mind away, the gown of my dreams in my lifetime.

Oh well. The most important thing for a bride is to wear the loveliest gown and march down the aisle for everyone to admire isnt it? ...I am really getting anxious.

Oh man, let me find the gown!

Loveliest Couple of the Month :)

Some direction

I haven blog for ages!
I doubt anyone will be reading my blog considering that I've "abandon" my blog for so long.
Anyway my dear frens will know that I've been going thru a depressing and rough patch lately. The pre-wedding preparations were kinda disasterous... Stressed me out so much that I am still having phobia about it. From after wedding till now I hardly have much personal time... Work like 24/7. Have been on retail therapy lately to stay sane. Have been seriously overwhelmed and upset about many things that convinced me that I m not gg to stay on in teaching after my bond is up.

Been seeking God and doing alot of reflection... I've to remind myself that my self worth doesnt come from my colleagues or students or the people around me. I've been trying too hard to please man... that I've lost myself. I am constantly doubting myself and even resenting myself... Do I really have a self-opinion, or izit based on how others will think of me? This is SO mentally draining!

Thankfully today's message reminded me of not being a man pleaser. It is IMPOSSIBLE to please everyone. I should seek only to please God. Been praying about my purpose and destiny in life. I am no longer so passionate about "moulding lifes and making a difference". Perhaps this is a different season of my life. It's time to move on. Take a break and rethink how to realign myself to God's will in my life, making adjustments to being Mrs as well.

Have so many personal things that I want to focus on.
Wedding preparation. This time Im going to prioritise my wedding at 1st place. It's a once in a lifetime. I want to have happy memories not sad ones.
Learning to cook.
Building a home.
Planning for a family... other job alternatives...

Really need to seek God's will. Each day when I see the news plagued with disasters like earthquakes, cyclone, famine etc.... I feel sad that this world is topsy turvy. All these signs that we are living in the end times is so real. For Jesus is indeed coming back very very soon. And we will have to go thru the trials and tribulations.
Yet many times, even now, I am so non-chalent abt things of God. How easy to be caught up with the present that we forget that we have an eternity to live for.

Like David, I want to "have a heart after God's very own heart."

I need a repentant heart like David.

Pro 3:5-6 Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will make your paths straight.

29th March

My wedding day:
Date: 29th March.
Venue: Rooftop of Amara Hotel

We have Pastor Cher Lip to conduct our church wedding and Jessie will be our solemniser. A pity that we cant find a chinese interpreter.
So busy in school that we haven got time to do much for wedding. Hopefully this holiday we will get some things done. Been stressing out about guest list, invites, decor of place, program etc etc... Didnt expect that even holding a simple wedding ceremony there's so much to do.

Am looking forward to my Big day! wish we could go for honeymoon though. But still got to go back to work....

I must really get started on preparation!

Solemnisation

Oh my.. Haven updated my blog for ages. So many adjustments to make in my life I am like a busy bee.
We have finally completed our PMC course. Learnt many valuable lessons. Hope I wont forget them after even long after our marriage.

We have settled on our solemnisation venue, at Amara hotel. I like the place. We are gg to have a garden theme for the solemnisation. It's like a dream come true to hold my wedding service at the poolside! I have watched movies and fantasise abt garden weddings before, never thought this silly dream of mine would come true one day.

Just hope that I can finalise the date soon cos need to fit the pastor's schedule. Tentatively sld be Mar 22nd or 29th. Hopefully.

So looking forward to the blessed day we can solemnise. It marks the beginning of a new journey of my life as I enter into the next phase. This wedding service somehow means more to me than the banquet. Hope to keep this wedding simple and elegant. That's my ideal wedding. Of cos God's presence on that day is very impt to us too.
Oh ya I have found a simple tea dress for the ceremony. Hope I look beautiful and elegant in it. Oh this reminds me. I need to get heels!

So busy. Many plans and desires we have for this year. Hope He will be with us thru every part of the process of setting up a family.

Cant wait for March to come, really.
God, help us, direct us. See that all our plans and dreams come to pass. Amen.

Busy weekends

By God's grace, we managed to squeeze in this round of PMC classes. Total of 7 sessions and we'll finish our classes by end nov.
Yesterday was our 1st session. Including us there are 6 couples at the facilitators hse. Hope we will take away valuable lessons from this course for our marriage and be more prepared and ready by then. Building a strong foundation for marriage is really impt.
Our membership class is coming to an end soon. To end the class, we are having a "Power encounter" weekend at Gallery hotel. That is, we have to stay overnight at the hotel. There will be a lot of teaching, ministering and fellowship i guess. Hope the meeting will really bring us up the next level in our walk with Abba Father.

Change in ROM date

Hey dearies,
We have decided to change our ROM date to next year. No confirmed date yet (maybe feb or march) but definitely after we have attended the PMC course.
Praise God He answered our prayers. We have been praying and seeking God for our wedding and last sundae finally our prayers are answered!
We both felt at peace with this decision and immense joy too, cos we know favour of God is upon our marriage and He wants to bless our wedding! What a privilege. :)

Thankyou God for guiding us everystep. My or rather our burden has been lifted up! Hooray! Look forward to a blessed, lovely ROM next year! :)

Pro 16:9 In his heart a man plans his course, but the Lord determines his steps. Amen.

Wedding banquet

We had a fruitful weekend looking around at hotels to hold our banquet. We shortlisted a few. Sat we went down to Chijmes, Raffles hotel, meritus mandarin etc... We'll roughly need abt 35 tables in all. So far I think Chijmes is awesome but the downside is the many pillars and the max sitting capacity of 32 tables.
Shangri-la is top on our list too. I quite like the ambience. The garden villas etc.. plus the ballroom is huge! Menu also not too bad. And there's already a WL for the dates we are looking at!
Heard that Grand Corpthorne has very nice ballroom too! Will go recky soon!
Plus maybe will look at Ritz.

Ok will update you all again!

Wedding shows

I am looking for a place to hold my wedding banquet. I prefer to find a ballroom with a long aisle as I plan to get a gown with long train. Shortlisted 2 places so far, Chijmes and The Legends.
Planning to go to this wedding show.

A Starry, Starry Wedding at The Grand Marquee The Legends Fort Canning Park 29 September 2007, Saturday 6.30pm - 10pm $25 per couple http://www.legendsfortcanning.com/fortcanning/Weddingbanquet.htm

Found a really good website http://www.singaporebrides.com/ Very informative and I recently joined the forum!

Hope it will be useful for my frens who are also planning for their wedding! :)

Bridal

Our first bridal experience was quite nightmare. This BS M*M tried to hard sell us their packages.. OMG we were stuck there for the longest time and lucky we didnt make any impulse purchase.

Forget abt the terrible experience. The 2nd botique I went to JWB. This time thanks for gir and hubby we manage to get a good package deal. I tried 2 gowns and love them! Esp the 1st one with alot of laces and ribbons with the long train...I truly felt like a princess! Short of a tiara. The 2nd tube one is stunning too.... I love their laces and swarovski crystals...

The negotiation took us nearly 4hrs! But it's was all worth it cos we got a good deal. Hopefully the mua, photographer, co-ordinator are patient and trustable. After paying so much really abit worried how their after sales svc will be.

Think sept/oct i'll be choosing my rom gown! So excited abt it.... Hope can find something really nice.

Oh finally the hdb balloting is open. Quite many areas.. but limited units. Anyway we are gg for it!! Really really hope to get "lucky" and able to get the units we want. We ll know by end Aug.

This is such a special season of my life that's y I wanna blog it down for everyone of my frens to share in my joy (and stress) of wedding preparation to the next phase of my life.

Will share more. Hope there's good news to share soon!
